WHO IS AMAR GAMAL?
Amar Gamal was born in Havana, Cuba and was raised in Miami Beach, Florida. She began her bellydance training at the Mideastern Dance Exchange at the age of 13 years old, under the direction of dance legend Tamalyn Dallal. Amar is the double crown winner of Ms. America and Ms. World of the bellydance San Francisco, CA; winner of Bellydance Break Beats Competition Los Angeles, CA; First runner up Ms. Egypt competition Cairo, Egypt.

Amar’s elegant and unique style has made her a sought after performer and instructor worldwide. She has had the privilege to be an invited guest teacher and performer all over Europe, Asia, South America and North America. Amar attended the reputable New World School of the Arts High School in Miami, FL. She was the first and only student to audition with bellydance and get accepted into the dance program. Here she pursued her intensive dance training in Ballet, Jazz, Modern/Contemporary, Tap and Afro-Cuban dances. She graduated from Miami Dade Community College with an Associates Degree in Psychology and from Bridgewater State College with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Amar is certified in Dancing through Pregnancy and Zumba fitness. In 1998 Amar and her dance partner Kaeshi co-founded Bellyqueen a New York based bellydance company. From 2006-2009 Bellyqueen toured the US, Canada, Western and Eastern Europe and Asia.

In 2002, while performing a 6-month contract in Aladdin’s Dessert Passage in Las Vegas, NV Amar competed and won first place in Bellydance Break Beats Competition headed by Miles Copeland. Inspired by Amar’s performance and that of Sonia and Ansuya the idea for Bellydance Superstars was born. Amar was one of the 6 chosen soloist for Bellydance Supertars, the first professional full time bellydance touring company in the world. Under their direction she toured all over USA, Canada, Europe and Asia; also was featured in various Italian, French and Spanish television shows. Including Live with Regis and Kelly in New York City and Jimmy Kimmel in Los Angeles; opened for Audio Slave and performed for Prince Albert of Monaco.

Her main teachers include Tamalyn Dallal, Antolino Alvarez, Jihan Jamal, Elena Garcia, Yousry Sharif, Elsa Bello, Maria Jammal, Mahmoud Reda, Ibrahim Farah, Raqia Hassan, Dr. Mo Geddawi.

Amar has been a principal dancer with Bellyqueen, Bellydance Superstars, Blau Rhino Dance Ensemble, Bridgewater College Dance Company, Mideastern Dance Exchange, Dance Express Contemporary Dance Company, Iroko Afro-Cuban Dance Company and Jamal Dancers Bellydance Company.
